Communities In Schools Cape Fear is an independent affiliate of a national organization that ensures every student, regardless of race, zip code, or socioeconomic background, has what they need to realize their potential in school and beyond. Working directly inside 23 schools across the region, we connect students to caring adults and community resources that help them see, confront, and overcome the barriers that stand between them and a brighter future.

CIS Cape Fear began as a branch of the Chamber of Commerce in the 1990's and has grown over the years to impact dozens of schools across New Hanover and Pender counties, host afterschool programs, run support groups for young parents, a diversion program for justice-involved teens and summer enrichment camps to support the needs of the region's young people.
