The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce’s Career and Leadership Development Academy is celebrating an incredible year of growth and development through a culmination of efforts from our generous industry partners, New Hanover County Schools, and Chamber staff. Over the course of the 2024-2025 academic year, CLDA programming introduced more than 1,750 students to careers in eight industry clusters across New Hanover County through hands-on, on-site career exploration visits. Students learned about and identified career paths that interested them, and, through our Academy pipeline, we hope to offer more and more opportunities and experiences for them to engage and connect with these careers.
To continue this growth and development, we are offering a free summer experience for interested students who have completed the CLDA program to further explore careers related to healthcare and hospitality. The Davis Community has opened its doors and invited its staff and residents to help facilitate learning, service, and recreation for students interested in these fields. Along with touring and meeting professionals in healthcare and hospitality, students will engage in hands-on activities and skills-building projects that will allow them to practice and demonstrate what they have learned. The experience will wrap up with a meaningful and memorable luncheon with residents and staff on their third and final day.
